Father's Day

One of my favorite things about having Leila has been watching Jeremy become a dad. There is nothing sweeter than watching your husband's face as he stares at his child. I love seeing little bits of Jeremy in Leila. They have the same eyes, the same ears, and the same even temperament. I have a feeling that they are going to be best friends. He already loves to spend every minute he can with her...even if it's when they are both sleeping.
(I'm so happy I caught this gem on camera...Daddy joining Leila for a nap after a long days work.)

Father's Day was spent at church and then with dinner at the Evans' home.
Another couple of gems that I love! Leila loves her Daddy so much she can't take her eyes off him. Absolutely precious!

Happy first Father's Day Jeremy! I couldn't ask for a more perfect father to my children.

One Month

I can't believe our baby girl is already a month old! Time really does just fly by no matter how hard I try to slow it down. Anie took some absolutely beautiful pictures of Leila at three weeks old and since we lost all the one month photo shoot pictures, I thought this post would be the perfect time to unveil these little gems.

After a Saturday filled with several sessions of photo shoots with Aunt Anie, Leila felt like such a model. We decided to save the family pictures until the next day when I would actually have to get ready anyway. I am so happy that we got these pictures of our new little family. They are so special to me: a celebration of our eternal family.

Okay, the pictures alone say a lot about our beautiful, sweet and perfect baby Leila, but I do want to document some of the things that I love about this little girl of ours.
Still weeks later, my favorite thing is when she lays on my chest, completely content, and usually falls asleep. It reminds me of how the entire pregnancy she would snuggle right under the ribs on my right side. But outside the womb is a lot more comfy!
I love how she crosses her feet like a little lady when she eats.
I love the "Zoolander" face she makes.
(We've never been able to catch it on camera. This is the beginning of one but she really gets her lips out there when she does it.)

Speaking of lips, I love her little pout. She already knows how to do a lower-lip-pout pretty darn good! I'm nervous about this in the future!

I love her blue eyes that lighten everyday.

I love her crazy long hair that is growing in like a Mohawk.

I love how she falls asleep on my chest while I burp her.

I love how she loves diaper changes and baths.

I love her sleep cooing.

I love her fuzzy ears.

I love when she sticks her thumb in her mouth.

I love how she smiles when I pat her bum to sleep.

Her smile just melts my heart.
Her first smile was June 5th and on June 7th she gave this Mama lots of smiles! She's learning and growing so fast!

A few more things about Leila.

It took Leila a long time to want to open her eyes. She is much happier with them closed. But I love the little glimpses I get of them.

She doesn't cry much but she has this mad cry she does when I am trying to get her to sleep and she is fighting it off. Her stork bites/angel kisses get SO red!

She's a Mama's girl right now. My favorite thing was when someone else was holding her, she started crying and when I took her she stopped and just stared at me. Best feeling ever!

She's pretty good at holding her binky, bottle and me. I love when she gabs my hand to have me hold her binky in.

She likes a schedule and is easily thrown off. She likes her sleep...just like her Daddy.

There is a possibility of allergies. The first couple weeks she was sneezing five times in a row pretty often. Now she is down to three times in a row so we will see...maybe it's just the season. It could be passed down from her Daddy. One thing she unfortunately got from me is my stomach. Once a week she projectile vomits like crazy. I hate it!

She loves music, especially the piano. When she hears it, she is mesmerized.

Kody has been so cute about Leila being in the house. He is very protective and likes to be near her especially when she is left alone. I love that they get along already!

I probably shouldn't have set the precedent of such long monthly posts but I think it is pretty obvious that I am absolutely obsessed with this little girl. She has completely changed our life. While it's true that I have never been so sleep deprived in my life, I have also never been happier. I love our Leila Dawn!

First Beach Trip

Jeremy was chomping at the bit to take Leila to the beach. We made it one month almost to the day before taking her. Even though I was totally paranoid about keeping her perfect skin out of the sun, it was so fun to have Leila experience this place we love so much for the first time. And she absolutely loved it! She was so calm and happy.
Leila got to rock her adorable sun glasses for the first time...ok honestly she wore these for like two minutes but they looked so cute on her!

Picture with Daddy
And picture with Grandma and Grandpa Evans

I mostly kept Leila in the little pop-up tent we brought to keep her from the elements but brought he out for a little walk in the Ergo. She's so happy all snuggled in there!

All in all the first beach trip was a success. We love living in California even for just another month so we can enjoy our beach time together!

Memorial Day

I love my family! Clark had scheduled a trip with his buddies from high school over Memorial Day weekend awhile ago, so he was going to be in town for a few days. I was excited for Leila to get to meet Uncle Clark. Once Anie found out that Clark was coming for the weekend, she decided it would be the perfect weekend to come up with the girls. Then Bobby found out that they were both coming and he had to jump on the bandwagon, joining us with Amy and Matthew. It was so great to have 3 of my siblings meet Leila and it was a great weekend all around.

Clark was the first to arrive. Leila immediately took to her Uncle Clarkie and enjoyed lots of snuggles and even a nap with him.

For some reason I got no pictures of Leila with Uncle Bobby, Aunt Amy, or Aunt Anie which totally bums be out but for the record she loved being held by all these uncles and aunts all weekend! She also got LOTS of cousin time. Madi and Elle just doted over her and Cal kept saying "baby" over and over whenever he saw her. ADORABLE!

My talented sister was so generous with her time and had several photo shoots with Leila. Those will be revealed on a later post but I couldn't resist posting this gem. Love these three girls!

The best part of the weekend was just enjoying every minute of this family time.
Leila's first walk...she LOVED it!
Boys picture from our walk (missing Dad)

Leila loves spending time with Gram...
...or maybe not. "Gram if you keep kissing me so much I'm going to put this fist in your face!"

Taking naps with Daddy on his day off.

Meeting Auntie Michelle for the first time.

Grandma Evans and Great Grandma Passey time.

Hanging out with her "big" cousin Jack...they are really bonding.

Leila had to meet Grandma Vicki and Papa Tom too.
She LOVED all this snuggle time!
Leila was completely worn out after all the lovin' this weekend. We couldn't be more grateful for such amazing family. It is such a wonderful feeling to see your child be so loved by so many people. I loved seeing each member of family with my new baby and am so happy we had this weekend together. Can't wait for the family reunion coming up! Better rest up in the meantime!
